Context of Ezekiel 43:
This vision is given to Ezekiel while he was in Babylonian captivity, fourteen years after the fall of Jerusalem. After the first part of the book of Ezekiel dealing with God’s judgement on Israel and other unbelieving nations, from Chapter 34 onwards we see a picture of hopefulness and renewal.
The section of chapters from 40–48 in particular presents a vision of the restoration of the temple and renewal of creation. After visiting different portions of the temple comples from chapter 40, in the chapter of our study (43:1), Ezekiel is brought to the gate facing east.
What is the significance of the East Gate of the temple?
Ezekiel 10:18,19
"Then the glory of the Lord departed from the threshold of the temple and stood over the cherubim. And the cherubim lifted their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight. When they went out, the wheels were beside them; and they stood at the door of the east gate of the Lord’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them."
The Glory of the Lord departed from temple, as an act of God’s judgment because the people defiled it. But In Ezekiel 43:5, The departed Glory of Lord, returns to the place from where it left. Wherever we feel lost, God says He will restore the lost Glory.
1.Restoration starts by Reorienting our Worship centered on God.
Why God’s Glory left in the first place?
Ezekiel 43:7,8
"And He said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever. No more shall the house of Israel defile My holy name, they nor their kings, by their [d]harlotry or with the carcasses of their kings on their high places."
The departure of God’s glory was the result of spiritual idolatry, expressed in two primary ways:
-
Harlotry (Spiritual Unfaithfulness)
A turning away from covenant loyalty to God, substituting devotion to Him with false worship. -
Exaltation of Earthly Kings
Placing human authority, power, and leadership above God’s sovereign rule.
God’s glory departs when His holiness is compromised, but He longs to dwell where His name is honoured and His throne remains uncontested.
2.Invitation to come nearer
Exodus40: 34,35
"Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting."
When the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle, even Moses could not enter because of its overwhelming presence. Yet later, God brings Ezekiel into the inner courts, inviting him to behold and experience His tangible glory more intimately.
This teaches us not to be satisfied with past encounters or former revelations. God continually calls us closer—into deeper places—so that we may know Him more, learn more of His ways, and experience fresh dimensions of His glory.
In Ezekiel 43:10, God asks Ezekiel to teach them about the Law and statues.
“Son of man, describe the temple to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern."
Psalm 119:18 says,
"Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous Things from Your law."
The deeper we study and meditate on the Word of God, the more He draws us into closer communion with Himself.
3. Divine Encounters of Greater Glory Consecrated Life
Ezekiel 43:19
"You shall give a young bull for a sin offering to the priests, the Levites, who are of the seed of Zadok, who approach Me to minister to Me,’ says the Lord God."
The Lord declares the ordinances of the altar, specifying the sacrifices to be offered and identifying those permitted to minister before Him—the priests, the Levites, who are of the lineage of Zadok. Although many Levites were qualified to perform priestly duties, God deliberately chose the sons of Zadok.
Why Zadok?
Ezekiel 44:15 provides the answer:
“But the priests, the Levites, the sons of Zadok, who kept charge of My sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near Me to minister to Me.”
Zadok and his descendants remained faithful when others turned away. Their obedience during times of compromise became the basis for greater access to God’s presence. Faithfulness, not mere qualification, granted them proximity to the Lord.
Principle for a Consecrated Life
The key to a consecrated life is sustained faithfulness to the calling God has entrusted to us. God has endowed each person with unique gifts and a specific calling. To experience greater dimensions of His glory, we must continually offer ourselves to Him in obedience and surrender.
3 kinds of Offerings

Sin Offering: Ezekiel 43:21, Confess it and bring it to God
-
Burnt Offering: Ezekiel 43:21, Complete Surrender to God.
