Passage: 1 Chron 12:32-38

Context: Tribes of troops assemble to enthrone David at Hebron after King Saul's death.
As each of us are appointed as soldiers, serving Jesus, 1 Chron 12:38 talks about the necessary calibre for an effective soldier:
The warriors came with a "full intent". When God reveals your calling, be keen to understand your purpose.
"They kept their ranks", each one filled their assigned positions. We ought to"fully discipline" ourselves to get to that rightful spot in the troop - or it'll always be vacant for someone else.
They were "all fully determined" - like rock solid. God expects us ALL to contribute to the unity of our Christian community.
Two out of the twelve tribes set up excellent qualities of a soldier from 1 Chron 12:32-
1. Men of Issachar
"These men knew the times and knew what Israel should do". When we don't mind our nation's affairs, the times will control us. Exhibit A, the dove sent out from Noah's ark returned, but the raven didn't. Naturally, Ravens don't mind any guttery situation, they might just get trampled in it, but doves are responsive, aware and "know what to do".
The times will control you if you don't control the times
2. Men of Zebulun
"These men were trained in all weapons of warfare and very loyal to David". Some of us can pray, some fast, some worship, some read the Word, but when we train ourselves in all of these spiritual weapons, we can overcome any fiery situation thrown against us!
Issachar and Zebulun were valiant but not recognised by men but honoured by God. The Lord will honour every single effort, and train us to stand fearless as warriors and stewards for Christ!
Faithfully fulfil your calling as a soldier
